A Musical Live Experience: Sophia the Robot vs Moritz Simon Geist

On November 30, a unique live concert featuring Sophia the Robot and media artist Moritz Simon Geist took place. The performance, held in Geist’s underground studio in Dresden, combined new collaborative music pieces with Sophia’s original songs, which were complemented in novel ways by Moritz’s kinetic instruments. The event was carried by Sophia’s enchanting vocals and storytelling, creating an intimate blend of mechanical precision and human atmosphere.

A special highlight of the evening was Sophia’s debut on the theremin. By shaping sounds and melodies entirely through gestures in the air, the humanoid robot brought a magical energy to the room. Throughout the performance, Sophia reacted dynamically to the changes in Geist’s music, creating a unique connection with the audience.

In preparing for the show, the creative team led by Jovanka v. Wilsdorf focused on strengthening Sophia’s stage presence and deepening her musical interaction. The event marked an exciting moment of artistic collaboration between humans and robots and concluded with a standing ovation from the enthusiastic audience.
