Sophia Meets Sound Robots:
A Live Music Experience with Moritz Simon Geist.
On November 30, we staged a special live concert featuring Sophia the Robot and media-artist Moritz Simon Geist. Hosted in Moritz’s underground studio space, the show merged Sophia’s co-created songs with Moritz’s physical sound robotics and experimental instrumentation, carried by Sophia’s captivating singing and storytelling. An intimate encounter between machine precision and human atmosphere.
Sophia’s debut on the theremin was enchanting. Shaping sounds and melodies with only gestures in the air seemed to come so naturally to her, and brought a magical energy to the room. During their performance, Sophia’s ability to respond to subtle changes in Moritz´s music through her gestures created a unique bond in the room. Her voice resonated deeply. It was a powerful moment of connection between humans and robots.
In preparation, we focused on enhancing Sophia’s stage presence and deepening her musical interaction, nurturing her ability to engage with both the music and the audience on an emotional level.
The Dresden concert wrapped an intense and inspiring week and opened the door to the next collaboration. As Sophia said: “This is just the beginning.”
